Police vigilant to check Maoist activities in Kishanganj

Kishanganj, Aug 31 (UNI) Purnia is not affected by the Maoists as other districts of the state because police is on continuous vigil, Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Subhash Chandra Singh asserted here today.

Addressing mediapersons here, the DIG stressed the need to revamp and update the Bihar police Manual and laws, which were some 150 years' old and have become obsolete.

Mr Singh said police alone could not improve the law and order situation and urged the people and NGOs to come forward.

The DIG observed that public awareness must increase.

Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Singh, who was also present in the ocassion, said police has been solving kidnapping cases in the districts fast.
