Over seven lakh tonnes of wheat reaches India
New Delhi, Aug 31: Over seven lakh tonnes of the 38.30 lakh tonne wheat, contracted for import, reached southern ports of the country on August 27, while ten vessels with 5.25 lakh tonnes already sailing on the way to Indian ports, are expected to reach by September-end.
Six vessels with total quantity of 2,94,761 tonne wheat were received by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) by August 27.
In addition, four vessels are currently at discharge at Chennai, Cochin and Vizag ports, having quantity of 1,89,680 tonnes of wheat, Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry said here today.
Besides, three vessels arrived at Vizag, Chennai and Mundra ports, with 1.48 lakh tonnes of wheat, are under fumigation.
