Malaysia tourism hopes to cash in on cricket tri-series

New Delhi, Aug 31 (UNI) After golf and motorsports, Malaysia hopes to rake in the moolah with the passion for cricket during the September 12-14 tri-series, featuring India, Australia and the West Indies, at Kuala Lumpur.

The Kinrara Stadium in Kuala Lumpur will be the venue for the day-night tournament and Tourism Malaysia today announced a special cricket package, expecting a modest response from the cricket-crazy Indians.

''Cricket is a religion in India and we want the Indians to celebrate this spirit in Malaysia. Since this would be our first formal entry into this segement (of cricket tourism), we anticipate a conservative estimate of 5,000 Indians to travel on our package for the forthcoming cricket series,'' Mr Manoharan, Director of Tourism Malaysia (India) said in a release here.
