Lt Gen Mahajan to be New DG of EME
New Delhi, Aug 31 (UNI) Lt Gen Arvind Mahajan will take over as Director General of the Corps of Electrical&Mechanical Engineers (EME) tomorrow replacing Lt Gen VC Jain who retired today.
Lt Gen Mahajan was commissioned in the Corps of EME in December 1968. An alumni of National Defence College, he is a graduate of the prestigious Higher Command course from Army War College. He has also specialised in Kvadrat Air Defence Weapon System in the erstwhile Soviet Union.
Lt Gen Mahajan has held various coveted regimental, Staff and Command appointments -- both within as well as outside the EME. His major staff appointments include Colonel - General Staff EME (Faculty of Studies) at Army War College, Deputy Director EME at HQ 15 Corps, Deputy Director General (Administration&Coordination) and Additional Director General (Admin&Coord) at Army Head Quarters.
Lt Gen Mahajan was awarded the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card, Chief of Naval Staff Commendation Card and Vishisht Seva Medal -- the last for his outstanding contributions while commanding the Army HQ Static Workshop at New Delhi.
Lt Gen Mahajan also planned the mobilisation of the EME resources during 'Op Vijay' and subsequently he was awarded the Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal. Later he was awarded another COAS Commendation Card.
Hitherto, he was Commandant of the College of EME, the Alma Mater of the Corps of EME, from August 1 last year. He is also Colonel Commandant of the Corps of EME.
