HC dismisses stay petition, orders notice to BCCI
Chennai, Aug 31 (UNI) Madras High Court today declined to restrain the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from holding election for its office-bearers.
Dismissing the stay petition, Justice K Raviraja Pandian admitted a petition filed by Cricket Association of Pondicherry (CAP) and ordered a notice to BCCI.
The judge said on the miscelleneous petition, counsel for the petitioner submitted that he cannot seek any interim order, hence the stay petition was dismissed.
The petition submitted by CAP sought to direct the BCCI to strictly adhere and to comply with the grant of membership to only the Central Controlling Bodies of Cricket in the states and Union Territories and ensure benefits, grants and other entitlements equitably and equally to each state and Union Territory, including the petitioner by adopting one member being the central controlling body of the state and not otherwise.
The petition also sought to accord full membership to it as Central Controlling Body of Cricket in the Union Territory.
