Ganguly centre of attraction in Moinuddowla Gold Cup

Hyderabad, Aug 31 (UNI) Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who is on a comeback trail, will be the centre of attraction in the All India Moinuddowla Gold Cup cricket tournament to be held from September 2 to 20..

Talking to the media, Hyderabad Cricket Association President and Andhra Pradesh labour Minister G Vinod said besides Ganguly, Test opener Wasim Jaffar and stylish middle order bat V V S Laxman would be leading their sides in the premier tournament in which about 20 teams, including defending champions Chemplast, would be competing for honours.

It was not known whether Anil Kumble, who is back from England after his short stint with Surrey, will play or not. There were indications that Dinesh Mongia might play in the tournament, he added.

He said among 20 teams, 12 were state association sides and the lone foreign team, USA Colts. The winner would take home Rs one lakh while runner up would get Rs 50,000.

The tournament would begin with three day matches between BSNL and HCA Presidents XI, Railways and Combined distrcts, Tripura and Goa and Jharkhand and Assam.

The teams: Andhra, Assam, BSNL, CAB, Chemplast, Combined Districts, Goa, HCA XI, HCA President's XI, India Cements, Jharkhand, KSCA, Maharashtra, MRF, Mumbai, Railways, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, USA Colts, Vidarbha.
