Floods-hit weavers in East Godavari Dist to get loans
Visakhapatnam, Aug 31 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to disburse Rs five lakh as compensation to the weavers affected by the recent floods in the amalapuram revenue division of East Godavari district.
State Handlooms and Textiles Deputy Director K Srikanth Prabhakar said according to the go Ms no 1801, those affected most in 39 villages in Amalapuram, Mummuduvaram, Aiyanavalli, Razole, Katernikona and Uppalaguptam mandals, would be benefitted.
He said Rs.1,000 for damaged looms, along with other assistance was being provided to weavers. In addition,the district collector has made arrangements for loans to the tune of Rs 10,000 to each family through banks,he added.
Mr Prabhakar,who is also apparel export park administrator said 1761 badly damaged looms would be replaced, including supply of fresh yarns, to the weavers.
