Cricket fans come face to face with Champions Trophy

Bangalore, Aug 31 (UNI) Cricket fans of the Garden City got a rare opportunity of having a close look at the Champions Trophy, which arrived here today on its last leg of display.

In all, top ten teams would fight it out to lift the trophy of the ICC Championship, scheduled to be held from October seven to November five in four venues -- Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mohali and Mumbai.

The trophy, which began its journey from Mohali, the venue of the inaugural match of the tournament between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, had travelled Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata.

International Cricket Council (ICC) President Percy Sonn said, in a release here, that ''the opportunity for the Indian public to get to see the trophy at close quarters is a great idea.'' UNI MSP GD DH PM1901
