Jaunpur, Aug 31 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today charged BJP and Congress with being ''anti-Brahmin.'' Addressing a 'Bhaichara' conference of Brahmins here, BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra said the community need to awake as since Independence, they have been exploited by Congress and BJP.

There are 16 per cent Brahmins and 24 per cent dalits in Uttar Pradesh.

''BSP is striving for uniting the society and equal opportunities to all,'' he said, noting that his party ''never gave the slogan of 'Tilak Taraju Aur Talwar...' and it is a puzzle even for the media, from where it originated.'' Mr Mishra asked the Brahmins to ponder over the deteriorating number of Brahmin MPs.

''I have told BSP president Mayawati that if the party candidates successfully won 89 seats, it would show the support of Brahmins to the party.'' He stated Congress had no base in UP, BJP has internal disputes, while chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav treats Brahmins as the enemy. ''In such a condition, BSP has become the right choice for the people of UP.'' ''BSP would fight the 2007 Vidhan Sabha assembly elections on its own and no coalition would be firmed with any 'big' political party,'' he reiterated.

Mr Mishra further said SP was playing ''pranks'' with the youth such as the umemployment allowance, due to the fear of being wiped-off in the forthcoming assembly elections.
