ATS seeks permission to conduct narco tests on blast suspects
Mumbai, Aug 31 (UNI) The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) has sought the court's permission to subject few suspects in the Mumbai serial train blasts case to narco analysis tests.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Joint Commissioner of police (ATS) K P Raghuvanshi said the court's permission has been sought for conducting the tests on two or three of the suspects, but he declined to divulge their names.
Once the court grants the permission, the suspects will be taken to Bangalore where the tests are conducted.
Meanwhile, Mr Raghuvanshi said Mohammed Riyaz, the Pakistani national who has been arrested in the case, had received advanced weapons training in Pakistan and was earlier involved in the smuggling of weapons in Jammu and Kashmir.
Riyaz had moved to Himachal Pradesh and befriended one Jitender Singh under the pretext of offering the latter a job in Dubai. Riyaz, then, moved to Dehradun and worked as a fitter for few months before coming down to Mumbai. The ATS has brought Jitender Singh to Mumbai to identify Riyaz. Singh, while identifying Riyaz, has confirmed he had provided some documents to him, Mr Raghuvanshi said. Police is likely to make Jitender Singh a witness in the case.
Regarding the body of a blast victim, which has been kept at the Sion Hospital morgue, Mr Raghuvanshi said the body has still not been claimed by any one.
The July 11 train serial blasts had claimed around 200 lives while over 700 were injured.
