20 football teams to participate in Mayor Cup Football event

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 31 (UNI) As many as twenty teams including top team Mohan Bagan, Mohhammadan Sporting, JCT Phagwara East Bengal, AIR India and Tata Football Academy are slated to participate in the All India Mayor Cup Football Trophy (AIMCFT) to be held here from September 3 to 17.

Addressing a press conference here today, Aurangabad Mayor Kishanchand Tanwani said former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi will inaugurate the event on Septemeber 3, which offers a cash prize of Rs three lakh to the winner, Rs two lakh for the runner-up and Rs one lakh to the third place finisher..

Apart from the winners, the organisers have also kept a prize of Rs 50,000 to the best playing team.

The Videocon group has sponsored the entire prize money of Rs 6.50 lakh, Tanwani said.

The matches would be held at the Mahatma Gandhi Mission (MGM) grounds in the Cidco locality.

This is the first time an All India football tournament are being held in this historic city of Aurangabad.

The AMC administration have made adequate arrangements for the accommodation of the players during the event, AMC commissioner Aseemkumar Gupta said.

Among those present at the press conference were former olympian S S Hakim, secretary, Aurangabad district football association, Abdul Kadir and vice president Liyaqat Hussain.
