Workers in industrial units will not be affected: Vaithalingam

Pondicherry, Aug 30 (UNI) The Pondicherry administration would ensure that workers of the industrial units were not affected in case of the government selling the site of the units to private parties, Industries Minister V Vaithilingam told the legislative assembly today.

Replying to a question, Mr Vaithilingam said the government was considering the sale of the land in the industrial estates here and a final decision would be taken after the formation of a new committee.

A committee earlier constituted under an IAS officer had recommended not to sell the lands then, he said and added that the situation had changed and private participation was encouraging now.

The government as well as private parties were setting up special economic zones, he said adding the government while selling the land would ensure that it would be properly utilised for industrial purposes.

Replying to another question, Education Minister M O H F Shajahan said the government would evolve a strategy to accomodate those who had completed teachers training course ten years back and also freshers equally.

He said those, who had studied course ten years ago in Tamil Nadu, might have scored low marks and added that the government would give them one mark for a year as per seniority.
