Vidyarthi fondly remembered

Imphal, Aug 30 (UNI) The cultural organisations of Manipur today condoled demise of Govind Vidyarthi, director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, last afternoon in Mumbai.

He was closely involved in propagation and promotion of various performing Manipuri art forms.

Govind Vidyarthi was born on May 15, 1912 in Dharmadam, Kerala and studied at Kashi Vidya Peeth in Benaras. He joined the Communist movement at an early age.

Mr Vidyarthi was also the Director of Kathak Kendra, run directly by the Sangeet Natak Academy.

He is survived by his wife Reba Vidyarthi, a Kathak guru, and his film actor son Ashish Vidyarthi.
