Twelve injured in fire in South Delhi foam factory
New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Twelve people, including ten fire fighters, were injured in a major fire at a foam manufacturing unit packed with tonnes of inflammable material in the Okhla industrial area of South Delhi today.
According to the Deputy Chief Fire Officer A K Sharma, the injured were rushed to the hospital. The blaze, which erupted at around 0930 hrs, apparently broke out by an electrical short circuit, firefighters at the site said.
The fire was controlled by around 1400 hrs, fire department officials said.
The three-storey building collapsed due to the blaze which also gutted tonnes of plastic and cloth material and PVC pipes stored there.
As many as 30 fire tenders were sent to battle the blaze.
