Top paddlers to participate in 36th Inter Institutional TT

Bangalore, Aug 30 (UNI) Top Indian paddlers, including Commonwealth winner Achantha Sharath Kamal, National Champion Subhajit Saha, SAF games runners up Soumyadeep Roy and National Champion Mouma Das, will be seen in action at the 36th All India Inter Institutional Table Tennis Championship, to be held here from September 1 to 5.

Talking to newspersons here today, Karnataka Table Tennis Association Vice-President P Dayanand Pai said the championship, carrying a prize money of Rs 2,50,000, would have both team and individual events. In the team events, 21 men and nine women have confirmed participation, while for individual events, 250 men and 150 women have sent their entries.

Defending Champion Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) in both men and women's section were top seeded in the team event, while Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), Bank's Sports Board (BSB) and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) were seeded second, third and fourth respectively in the men's section and BSB, RSPB and LIC were seeded second, third and fourth in the distaff section.

In individual events, Kamal, Saha, Roy and Jitendra Kumar were seeded one to four respectively in the men's section, while Paulomi Ghatak, Mouma Das, S Kumari and Montu Ghosh got the top billing respectively, he said.

Pai said the finals of the team event was slated for September 3 and individual event for September 5.
