Three medicos arrested in Asom

Guwahati, Aug 30 (UNI) With ''Lage Raho Munnabhai'' all set to hit the silver screen soon, ''Munnabhai MBBS'' syndrome is disturbing the medical colleges of Asom as three students got admission to the MBBS course by proxy.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said here today that three students were arrested recently.

''The three, who were arrested, had forced other students to sit in the examination on their behalf and got admitted to the Guwahati Medical College (GMC) hospital last year,'' he said.

The Bureau of Investigation of Economic Offence (BIEO) of the Asom Police have conducted inquiry into the scandal and arrested Sheikh Mohammed Shahin of Guwahati, Parthapratim Bora and Sultan Ahmed of Hojai.

The students had already completed the first year of the MBBS course when they were arrested.

Meanwhile, another scandal has been unearthed. Three students manipulated the selection procedure to get into the Post Graduation course in the Asom Medical College (AMC), Dibrugarh.
