Hyderabad, Aug 30 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today alleged in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly that a Congress MLA was involved in the murder of Sai Reddy, an MPTC member from Banswada in Nizamabad district and the brother-in-law of party district president Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy.

Congress MLA B Govardhan who defeated Srinivasa Reddy during the last Assembly elections denied the charge and said if he was proved guilty in the investigation, he would face any punishment.

Making a Zero Hour mention, TDP member Narender Reddy alleged that the Congress onslaught on TDP activists was continuing in the state and the murder of Sayi Reddy, an MPTC member two days ago in Banswada was a fresh example.

He alleged that Sayi Reddy was brutally murdered while the House was in session.

He said Sai Reddy complained to the police four times that there was a threat to his life as there were two attemts on his life earlier and alleged that the police had not provided adequate security.

Responding on behalf of the Home Minister, Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy assured the TDP member that the government would take stringent action against the culprits despite their political affiliation.

He, however, appealed to the opposition not to use the House as a platform for gaining political benefits.

Mr Govardhan, while severely condemning the allegation, said Nizamabad was a peace-loving district and no faction or political murders ever took place there.

He said an investigation was on and assured he would respect the course of the law. He appealed to the opposition not to politicise the issue and play politics over the death of a person.
