Standing Committee approves Rs 138 cr for tunnel work
Mumbai, Aug 30 (UNI) The Standing Committee of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today approved Rs 138 crore Veravali-Yari Road tunnel consutruction to improve supply of drinking water to resident of K-ward in western suburbs.
Chairman of Standing Committee Ravindra Walkar said here that with the approval of fund the citizens of K-west ward, especially in Versova, Yari Road, Adarsh Nagar areas will get the benefit once the tunnel work is completed.
Work of the project is expected to complete within 50 months from the commencement of work.
This tunnel project is the part of the corporation's continuous initiative to focus on implementing citizen-friendly projects.
The tunnel is being constructed 200 metres deep, will reduce friction losses and control leakage and would also take care of security related issues, he added.
