Jaipur, Aug 30, (UNI) A Sikh prisoner lodged in the Sever sub-jail in Bharatpur district has accused the jail authorities of shearing his hair while the police and jail administration have termed the allegation 'concocted'.

Bharatpur police superintendent Anand Srivastav told UNI over phone that prisoner Sardar Pratap Singh, convicted of life term in a murder case, has accused the jail administration of shearing his hair. Mr Srivastav said prima facie his accusation was found false after a preliminary investigation.

He said Pratap Singh has named one jail officer in whose presence his hair was allegedly chopped off. But he said the official was away in Jaipur today in connection with a matter concerning jail administration.

He said Pratap Singh had been demanding his transfer from the Sever jail to a jail in Ganganagar district but his request was rejected by the jail administration. Besides, he was also not granted parole on his application. Mr Srivastav said prima facie the allegation seemed to have been made to implicate the jail authorities in connivance with some other hard-core criminals.

Additional District Magistrate(Administration) Bharatpur and DIG (Jail) were conducting a detailed inquiry into the allegation.
