Sena to take out morcha on Mh Cabinet meet: Joshi
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 30 (UNI) Expressing concern over the apathy of the state government towards the flood-affected people of Marathwada, Shiv Sena Leader Manohar Joshi today declared his party will take out a huge morcha led by Executive President Uddhav Thackeray on the State Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held here on September 18-19 to highlight issues of the calamity affected people.
Leader of Opposition in State Legislative Assembly Ramdas Kadam and party's leaders from Marathwada would participate in the morcha, Mr Joshi said.
Talking to reporters after visiting the calamity affected villages in the three tehsils of Paithan, Gangapur and Vaijapur in the district, Mr Joshi said financial assistance of Rs 400 crore announced by the Prime Minister for rehabilitation of the flood-affected people of the State was not enough to cope with the situation and demanded Rs 1,000 crore from the Centre.
The former Lok Sabha Speaker said during his visit he observed that many flood-affected villagers had ot yet received the initial assistance of Rs 1,000 from the authorites.
The former Maharashtra Chief Minister pointed out that the financial assistance of Rs 2,400 and Rs 4,800 would not take care of the damage caused to the houses of the flood-affected villages and urged the government to make necessary amendments in its notification to enhance the aid to Rs 25,000 in the case of house collapse.
The Shiv Sena has demanded financial assistance of Rs 25,000 per hectare to the farmers, whose standing crops in their farms were destroyed in the flood.
Shiv Sena deputy leader and MP Chandrakant Khaire, Aurangabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Kishanchand Tanwani were present on the occasion.
