Sealing of primary schools in residential areas unjustifed: BJP
New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Sharply reacting to the proposed sealing of schools beyond pre-nursery in residential areas under the new Master Plan, the BJP today said the sealing of private schools in residential areas was completely unjustified as it would affect the future of lakhs of children as well as employed teachers.
In a statement issued here, Leader of the Opposition in the MCD Subhash Arya said,''there are 2500 schools above pre-nursery level which are being run in residential areas of Delhi. About eight lakh children are studying in these schools and about 1.5 lakh teachers appointed. In case these schools are sealed, the future of these children and teachers will be in jeopardy.'' ''It is the aim of the Government to provide education to children nearer to their residence. If these schools are closed, the Government will not be able to attain its goal,'' Mr Arya said. The schools recognised by the state government or the MCD be allowed to run in residential areas so that future of children and teachers could be saved,'' he added.
