Salgaocar route Velsao 5-0, Raia stun Sporting 1-0
Margao, Aug 30 (UNI) Formidable Salgaocar Sports club, and Churchill Brothers kept their unbeaten recoid intact in the GFA'S Hutch professional football league championship at Tilak ground, Vasco and Fatorda stadium, Margao respectively.
Spirited Raia sporting shocked Sporting club de Goa by a solitary goal in the match played at Duler ground Mapusa in North Goa. For Raia sporting lone goal came in the 76th minute through Welsley Coutinho, who headed in a free kick pass from Rokcey Barreto. Sporting Dudu Omaghbhemi was shown a red card and marching order by refree for his rude beheviour.
At Tilak ground Vasco, Salgaocar sports club outclassed Velsao pale by 5-0 after leading 3-0 at the breather. They moved ahead in the 34th minute through Rochus Lamare off a pass from Patric Okonji.
Within a minute, Francis Fernandes consolidated a lead for Salgaocar off a pass from Nicholau Colaco.
Inspired by two quick goals, Salgaocar continued to attack and scored another goal through Milagris Gonsalves, whose power packed shot hit the rival goalkeepr and deflected towards Gonsalves who, in his second attempt just tapped the ball in to make it 3-0 at the breather.
After breather, Salgaocar pumped in two more goals through Patric Okonji in the 56th minute and Premjit Singh in the 87th minute to rout Velsao Pale by 5-0.
A fine brace by Odafe Okeye enabled Churchill Brothers blanked Vasco sports club by 4-0 to register their first win and gain full points in the another tie played at Fatorda stadium Margao.
Churchill today started aggresively and forged ahead as early as in the 6th minute through Khanthang Paite, who after collecting a a pass from Odafa Okeye from the left flank dribbled past couple of defenders shot into the net 1-0.
Churchill increased their lead in the 23rd minute through Drupesh Desai, whose power packed shot from close range found the net 2-0 it was a good pass from L Robert.
Five minutes before the breather, Odafa Okeye scored third goal for his side off a penalty awarded to them by refree, when Odafa was brought down by Rival's Sujay Mondal in the danger zone. Odafa himself converted the spot kick correctly to make it 3-0.
Leading by three goals at half time, Churhill continued to attack and increased their lead in the 49th minute through Odafa (his brace) who after collecting a pass from L Robert unleashed a shot which hit the cross bar and went into the net 4-0.
At the end of the fourth round, Salgaocar leading the table with 10 points, followed by Dempo, Vasco Sports club and sporting club de Goa with seven points each, Churchill Brothers with six points, Velsao Pale 4 and Raia sporting with four point each and Corps of Signals at the bottom with no points to their credit.
