Prof Sabharwal's death not murder: Chouhan

Bhopal, Aug 30 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said he did not regard Ujjain's Madhav College Professor Harbhajan Singh Sabharwal's death as a murder.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Kisan Panchayat organised at the CM's residence here, Mr Chouhan described the incident as unfortunate and said impartial investigation was being undertaken.

Promising strict action against culprits, he said the Congress was looking the incident from a political angle which was not appropriate.

Mr Chouhan said while action would be taken against those found guilty, it was necessary to protect innocent people.

Prof Sabharwal died after he was attacked by students irked over postponement of student union election on August 26. Another professor M L Nath was insulted, while rampant vandalism was carried out at the college premises.

Subsequently, police arrested more than two dozen people linked to ABVP, Congress and NSUI.
