President to inaugurate IIT alumni 2006

Kolkata, Aug 30 (UNI) President APJ Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the three day Global Conference of IIT Alumni in Mumbai on December 23, Mr Ashank Desai, Chairman, Pan IIT 2006 committee said here today.

"We have also invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and are now awaiting his confirmation," Mr Desai said.

The IIT Alumni 2006 Global Conference is supposed to be attended by more than 6,000 IITians from across the globe.

The theme of the conference is "inspire IITians to involve and transform India" with the objective of Nation-building.

During the 3-day deliberations various topics like "Building India into a Knowledge Economy", "Getting the governance you want", "Learning from successful entrepreneurs" would be covered in a series of session.
