"Operation Majnu" launched again in Meerut

Meerut, Aug 30 (UNI) The district administration of Meerut district has again launched "Operation Majnu" here in view of the increasing incidents of eve teasing.

Tension prevailed in the district after an incident of eve-teasing last night. An agitated mob reportedly beat up two youths and handed them over to police.

Meerut District Magistrate Mukesh Meshram told UNI the district administration has taken a serious view of the increasing incidents of eve-teasing which has disrupted peaceful atmosphere in the state.

He said under a 15 day drive launched in the district a strict vigil will be launched against all motorcycle borne eve teasers and strict punishment will be meted out to those violating traffic norms.

Last year during "Operation Majnu' several youths were beaten up by the police.
