Municipality's decision is to remain on use of stadium
Kochi, Aug 30 (UNI) Kerala Advocate-General C P Sudhakara Prasad submitted before the High Court today that as long as the decision of Kannur municipality not to permit public functions at the Jawahar Stadium was maintained and on a request was being made, appropriate measures for enforcing the stand adopted by the municipality would be enforced.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice M Ramachandran recorded this undertaking and hoped that CPI(M) Kannur district secretary would not act irresponsibly as apprehended in a PIL.
The Court was considering a petition filed by A M Jayaram, a sports lover of Kannur.
He submitted that though the CPI(M) district secretary sought permission of the municipality to make use of the stadium for a rally to be held tomorrow, the municipal council rejected the demand on the basis of earlier decision not to grant the stadium for any public functions other than sports functions.
The Petitioner apprehended that there was possibility for tresspass notwithstanding the decision of the municipality.
