Mizoram to produce organic manure from degradable waste
Aizwal, Aug 30 (UNI) The Mizoram government will soon produce organic manure from bio-degradable solid wastes generated in the state.
Talking to UNI state's Local Administration Department Minister H Vanlalauva said the department is in the process of obtaining land for constructing a solid waste management centre near the garbage dumping ground in Tuirial area in the outskirts of the capital town.
''We are now preparing a detail project report and financial estimation for the project. The project is expected to start by the end of this year,'' the Minister added.
The Minister said they plan to sell organic manure to the farmers across the state which will help increase agriculture production.
Official sources here said the Administration Department has a Sanitation Wing, which deals with garbage disposal but it is hard-pressed to cope with the mounting solid wastes.
The state also has a Clean Mizoram Committee (CMC), headed by Chief Minister Zoramthanga, which runs as a semi-autonomous body constituted by the state government.
