Meghalay Governor urges govt to set up IIM campus in time

Shillong, Aug 30 (UNI) Meghalaya Governor M M Jacob has urged the Rymbai-led government to speed up the process of setting up the proposed Indian Institute of Management here.

Mr Jacob have also asked the state government to immediately transfer the land to Education the department for the project.

''The state government needs to speed up the process as it is a prestigious project,'' Mr Jacob said during his visit at Mawdiangdiang, the proposed site of the IIM campus.

''The government should not delay the construction of IIM,'' he said.

However, the Governor assured that he would also request the UPA government to speed up the process to ensure the completion of the project in time.

Earlier, Chief Minister J D Rymbai have sent letters to Union Minister in-charge Human Resource Development Arjun Singh to expedite the process to start the institute here in time.

This would be the seventh IIM of the country after Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow.
