Lure for liquor drives man to torch his daughter

Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) A teenaged girl was set ablaze by her father when she objected to his frequent fights with her paralysed mother for money to buy liquor.

The incident occurred at Kannadasan Nagar at Kodungaiyur in North Chennai.

Police said the man, Sekar, who had retired from Government service, had been pestering his bed-ridden wife for money to buy liquor.

When Pavithra, who ran the house-hold, objected to her father's behaviour, an enraged Sekar doused her with kerosene and set her on fire.

She was rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College hospital, where she succumbed to the burns.

Police are on the look out for Sekar, who is absconding.
