Mysore, Aug 30: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party Karnataka President S Bangarappa today urged the Union Government to immediately release funds for taking up relief works in flood-ravaged parts of the state, especially the worst-affected districts of North Karnataka.

Talking to newspersons here, he said all political parties in the state should come to together to fight for the state's welfare and condemn the ''step motherly'' treatment meted out to the state in the release of Central funds. The Centre had not even released adhoc payments to the state, he alleged.

Accusing the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre of having failed on all fronts, he urged the Left parties to reconsider its support to it on issues related to foreign affairs and labour problems.

On the corruption charges levelled against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy by suspended BJP leader G Janardhan Reddy, MLC, he said his party would continue to demand for a CBI probe into the entire episode.
