Israel kills 3 Palestinian militants in Gaza Strip

GAZA, Aug 30 (Reuters) Israeli forces today killed three Palestinian gunmen during an operation in an Islamic militant stronghold in Gaza City, medics said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said soldiers shot at Palestinians who fired anti-tank missiles at them in Gaza City's Shijaia neighbourhood, where the army launched an offensive on Saturday.

''The forces saw that they hit two of them,'' she said, adding there were no casualties among the Israelis.

Medics said three militants were killed and another gunman was wounded.

Yesterday, Israeli troops killed six Palestinians and wounded more than a dozen in attacks on militants in the Gaza Strip and in the occupied West Bank, medics and witnesses said.

The Israeli army has killed more than 190 Palestinians in Gaza since starting an offensive after gunmen abducted a soldier in a cross-border raid on June 25.
