New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) The Centre has asked the Maharashtra government to facilitate the setting up of a full-fledged India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) Pragati Maidan like exhibition-cum-convention ground and office in Nagpur, a fast growing city in Central India.

Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath has urged the state Government to facilitate the setting up of an office of an ITPO in Nagpur, which would give a boost to enterprises of the region.

In a letter to Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Mr Kamal Nath has forwarded a communication from Minister of State, Non-Conventional Energy Sources Vilas Muttemwar, regarding establishment of an office of ITPO at Nagpur.

'' Nagpur is a big centre for trade and industrial activities in central India and the city is growing at a very fast pace. There is, therefore, an imperative need for establishment of an office of the ITPO in this city for assistance to the entrepreneurs of the region.

This matter is being considered by us in consultation with the ITPO,'' the Commerce and Industry Minister said.

He has further pointed out that assistance from the state government would be required for providing a suitable piece of land - about 40 to 50 acres - to the ITPO in Nagpur so that a full-fledged office of the organisation could be established in an independent building.

He also requested the state government to cosider whether this could be allotted to meet the immediate and future requirements of the ITPO as well as an exhibition centre in Nagpur.
