Hefty cash awards for SAF Games medal winners from TN

Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Athletic Association will honour state athletes who have won a Gold medal in the just concluded SAF Games in Colombo, with a cash award of Rs One lakh.

TNAA President W I Davaram congratulated long jumpers Anju George and Wayne Pepin, middle distance and 4x400 m relay runner Shanthi, 800 m Gold winner Francis Sagayadas, high jumper Benedict Starli (Silver), Pole vaulter Vadivelu (Bronze) and 10,000 M runner Ragunathan (Bronze).

He also announced that Silver medal winners would be honoured with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the Bronze medallists Rs 30,000 each.

The TNAA will also felicitate the medal winners at a function along with Technical Delegate in the Games Mr C K Valson here tomorrow, he said.
