Govt sets up panel to review NCERT Hindi text books

New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Taking note of the objections and protests expressed in Parliament over the contents of NCERT textbooks in Hindi, the Government today announced setting up a review committee under the chairmanship of Prof Yashpal to look into the matter.

The Commitee has five members in Prof Mrinal Miri, who is chairman of the National Monitoring Commitee, Rajya Sabha Member Nirmala Deshpande, eminent Hindi writer Krishna Sobti, Eminent Kannada writer Prof UR Ananthamurthy and Mr Ashok Vajpayee, the former vice chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University.

The panel has been asked to review the Hindi text books in the light of the objections raised and recommend any improvement or revision that may be considered necessary.

It is expected to submit its report by September 30.
