Four arrested in Insurance Scam case of Tamil Nadu

New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) A retired Police Inspector and two Public Works Department (PWD) officials are among four persons arrested in connection with Tamil Nadu's insurance scam case, the CBI said today.

Besides retired Inspector of the Kottampatti police station, Kulandaivelu, PWD Junior Engineer Kannan and Works Inspector Raju were arrested for fraudulently making insurance claims by enacting an accident, a CBI spokesman said. The fourth person arrested is the driver of the vehicle Paramasivam.

This was one among the 13 cases registered by the agency on the orders of the Madras High Court to probe massive fraud allegedly committed by several persons making false insurance claims.

The four, arrested by the agency's anti-corruption branch yesterday, were produced before the competent court at Chennai today and remanded to judicial custody till September 12, the CBI said.
