Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today directed the police officials to accept complaints and register First Information Reports (FIRs) irrespective of the jurisdiction.

Replying to debate on the demand for grants for Home Department, he said police should accept complaints from the public and register the FIR even if the station or the scene of crime did not come under their jurisdiction.

The FIR then could be sent to the concerned station in the jurisdiction for further action.

''Police officials should not reject the complaints citing they did not come under their jurisdiction,'' he added.

In view of the recent fake FIR scam, Mr Karunanidhi also announced only FIRs printed in Government Press should be used for filing the reports. No FIR forms made by private parties should be used, he made it clear.
