Deportation of Indian workers refused
Dubai, Aug 30: Bahrain immigration has refused to deport two Indian workers of a local construction company at the request of the Indian embassy as they have not been paid their wages.
The Ministry of Labour has pledged that the issue would be settled shortly, news reports said.
The embassy intervened when alerted that Vel Muruggan and Ravi Muthusamy, who were reportedly abducted by company representatives on August 27 and later arrested on charges of instigating other workers to revolt, were about to be deported.
John Iype of Co-ordination Committee of Indian Associations told the Bahrain Tribune that workers were promised wage settlement and they would resume duty tomorrow.
