Day of upsets: Sharon hogs limelight

Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) It was a day of upsets in the IOB-GNC Asian Junior under-14 tennis championships here today.

Hogging the limelight, unseeded Sharon S Paul packed off top seeded Shweta Rana 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(4) in three gruelling sets to enter the semifinals in the Girls under-14 singles.

In another match, unseeded Natalia Khanejo accounted for third seeded Ankita Raina 6-2, 6-3.

In the boy's under-14 singles, lucky loser Rishab Dev and unseeded Irfan Hussain, also attracted attention with upset wins. While Rishab showed the way out to fourth seeded Sumeet Shinde 6-3, 6-3, Irfan put it across sixth seeded Samip Mehta 6-2, 6-2.
