Cricketer Sehwag's village under threat of industrial pollution

New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notices to the Delhi Government and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) on a PIL seeking direction restraining the authorities in earmarking a vacant plot as landfill for industiral waste near Najafgarh village, the native place of famed cricketer Virender Sehwag.

A division bench of Justices M K Sharma and Hima Kohli directed the respondents to file their replies to the allegations by September 22, the next date of hearing.

The 26 villages of Najafgarh block in Delhi's rural areas are under threat of contamination of water and land due to earmark of a 40 hectare plot in Ghumanhera vilalge for landfill to dump industrial waste, said the petition filed by Counsel Sugriv Dubey and Namita Roy for Gram Vikas Sangharsh Samiti.
