Cong workers burn effigies of Vajpayee, Advani on Kandahar issue
Dehradun, Aug 30 (UNI) Congress activists today burnt senior BJP leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani in effigy near Uttaranchal Congress Bhavan here criticising their decision to release terrorists in the Kandahar episode.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah had recently stated that NDA Government had ''pressurised'' him to release terrorists including Maulana Masood Azhar in exchange of the passengers of the Indian Airlines flight IC 814 hijacked to Kandahar.
Party leader said it was a ''matter of shame'' for the country that the then Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh had accompanied the terrorists to Kandahar.
