Hyderabad, Aug 30 (UNI) Shocked over serious personal allegation levelled by TDLP Deputy Leader T Devender Goud against Congress member Ramakrishna Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today appealed to the former to withdraw his remarks.

''I am really dazed. The remarks are highly unparliamentary and derogatory'', the Leader of the House observed while intervening to end the deadlock following a deviation from the debate on the issue of land acquisition.

Was the then Government so inefficient that it could not take action if that member had any criminal record, he asked.

Describing the day as a ''black day for democracy'', the Chief Minister recalled that even Pandit Jawharlal Nehru had several times withdrawn his remarks made during heated debates.

Recalling his 28 years either in Parliament or in the State Assembly, Dr Reddy said ''I have readily offered to withdraw any of my remarks made in the past if they have hurt the feelings of other members''.

He disapproved of Mr Goud giving a 'casteist colour' to his remarks. ''I have a found you outside the House as a soft-spoken and sweet talker'', he said. ''For heaven sake withdraw those remarks. This will only enhance your prestige'', he appealed to Mr Goud.
