Change of guard in military set up

Imphal, Aug 30 (UNI) Major General B K Chengapa has taken over as IG Assam Rifles (South) from Maj Gen B S Ghotra last evening.

General Ghotra has been appointd in Integrated Defence Headquarters (Army) in New Delhi, army sources said.

IG Chengapa hails from Coorg district of Karnataka. He commanded 14 Garhwal Rifles Battalion in Manipur.

Prior to the new appointment IG Chengapa handled the counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir as well as in North East.

He had commanded 25 Sector Assam Rifles in Arunachal Pradesh.

He was the Head of Faculty at the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad, prior to assuming the coveted Command of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) in Manipur.
