Cairn Energy to dig another oil well in the north
Jodhpur, Aug 30 (UNI) Oil company Cairn Energy has said its activities remained unaffected due to floods in Barmer district and it will start digging another oil well in the northern region within the next two days.
According to official sources of Cairn Energy, the oil deposits discovered so far --Mangla, Aishwarya, Rameshwari-- were also safe.
These oil wells have pumps installed on them which are at a height of three feet from the ground and the casing on them prevents percolation of water.
Meanwhile, the company is not producing oil from these oil wells but will start production from Rameshwari and Mangla oil wells at the end of 2008.
However, the sources admitted that some roads and fencing near the oil fields in the north had been damaged due to floods and work was on to repair them.
