Itanagar, Aug 30 (UNI) The BJP in Arunachal Pradesh today threatened to launch a mass movement against the 'unfair' draw of the Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan Raffle, which has snowballed into a major crisis in the state recently.

The party set a two-week deadline to the state government to dissolve the one-man inquiry committee and constitute a new multi-men committee to go into the details of the episode.

''The one-man committee, headed by home commissioner V K Singh, will not be able to initiate an impartial inquiry due to pressure from the people at the helm of affairs,'' state BJP president Tapen Siga said at a press conference here.

''We are opposing the one-man committee and demanding its reconstitution with members from NGOs, political parties and legal experts within two weeks so as to make the issue transparent,'' Mr Siga said while insisting on re-scheduling of the game honouring the 'genuine sentiments' of the people.

Alleging that the draw of the lottery was stage managed, the BJP questioned the integrity of the committee, which had changed the venue and timing of the draw citing security reasons.

Lashing out at Chief Minister Gegong Apang for alleging the party's involvement in instigating the aggrieved ticket holder to gain political mileage, the BJP chief termed the allegation as baseless and without an iota of truth.
