BJP supports inclusion of Act in 9th Schedule

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 30 (UNI) The BJP in Kerala today said it would give all support to the state government if it took efforts to get the Professional Colleges Act included in the IXth Schedule of the Constitution.

Since two-third majority was required to pass the Act in the Parliament, BJP support was necessary in this regard, BJP state president P S Sreedharan Pillai told a news conference here.

Though the BJP had certain differences on the Act, the party was ready to pressurise the Centre to get it included in the Nineth Schedule, he said.

Alleging that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in the state was "cheating" the people by stating that the Act would be included in the Nineth Schedule, Mr Pillai said the government was joining hands with communal forces and managements not to implement it.
