BJP for Vande Matram recitation in Punjab on Sep 7

Chandigarh, Aug 30 (UNI) The Punjab BJP has demanded compulsory recitation of the National Song 'Vande Matram' in schools and educational institutions all across the state on September 7 to commemorate the centenary of composition of the song.

Terming the centenary celebrations of the National Song on September 7 as of ''great significance' for the state of Punjab, BJP Youth Wing's National Executive member Vineet Joshi asked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to issue directions for the recitation of national song in each and every school of the state.

The nationwide celebrations of 100 years of composition of Vande Matram must be complemented in Punjab in a big way, Mr Joshi said.

Mr Joshi asked Capt Singh to ''show courage and not toe the meek line'' being adopted by the Congress central leadership on the issue. ''The state of martyrs cannot afford to miss out this historic event by not reciting Vande Matram in schools and other institutions,'' he said.
