BHEL all set to enhance manufacturing capacity

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 30 (UNI) Aiming to meet the country's power demand and targeting to provide "Power to All by 2012', the public sector gaint Bharath Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) will invest more than Rs 1,600 crore for holistic modernisation and capacity expansion of its facilities.

A release from BHEL here today said in line with the power demand, the enhancement of manufacturing capacity was on course from 6,000 MW per annum at present to 10,000 MW per annum by 2007.

The BHEL would be willing to further enhance its capacity even beyond 10,000 MW to the levels required by the country's power sector.

The BHEL had taken necessary steps for upgradation and introduction of new technologies. The company had already tied up to acquire new technology to produce thermal power equipments with super-critical parameters for the next higher rating 800 MW sets and above.

Introduction of higher rating Hydro turbine generator sets and advanced class gas turbines had been planned to cater to the upcoming market requirements, the release added.
