300 properties sealed, demolition in Karol Bagh, Shahdara, South

New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Continuing with sealing and demolition of unauthorised properties in several zones of the capital, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi today sealed over 300 unauthorised properties while demolishing several others.

Meanwhile, for the first time, the MCD today used hi-tech equipment Tracked Escavater-cum-Loader, JCB with Rock Cutter, JCB with Bucket and Power Kumetic Hammer in carrying out demolition action at commercial properties situated on Rama Road in Karol Bagh Zone.

A massive sealing action was taken in various parts of Rohini Zone of MCD in which 38 properties were sealed. In Central Zone 18 properties were sealed while 75 properties were sealed in Shahdara (South).

In West Zone, 136 properties were sealed while in Shahdara (North) Zone 32 properties were sealed.

Five commercial properties situated on Rama Road in Karol Bagh Zone were demolished using hi-tech equipment for the first time.

These included Tracked Escavater-cum-Loader, JCB with Rock Cutter, JCB with Bucket and Power Kumetic Hammer.

Five unauthorised properties on Vikas Marg and Ten properties in South Zone, including those at Sainik farms and Chhattarpur were demolished.

A property was demolished at Shahdara (North) zone.

The sealings and demolitions have been taking place following the court recently voicing concern over continuance of unauthorised onstructions in various parts of Delhi.

It alse comes close on the heels of the apex court striking down certain provisions of the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions ) Act, 2006 which had put a year stay on all demolitions and sealings in the capital.

Following the court order the MCD recently announced its decision to start sealing properties from Spetember 1.
