Van Heusen to enter woman's wear segment

Kochi, Aug 29: As part of its expansion programme, Van Heusen, the premium menswear brand, would make its foray into the party and woman's wear segment to extend the multiple product portfolio and was planning to emerge into a 500-crore brand in the near future.

Talking to newspersons here today, Assistant Brand Head Kedar Apshankar said, ''The brand would make its entry into unrepresented segments like party wear and woman's wear segment in September.'' He said Van Heusen, which is owned by Madura Coats in India, was the country's top premium business wear brand by volume and with the introduction of more products, it aims to be the number one premium brand by value also.

The 95-year-old brand, which has the fastest growth rate of 30 per cent in the premium market segment, was planning to emerge into a 500-crore company in the near future, he added.

Mr Apshankar also announced the launch of a Van Heusen Flagship Store in the city and added that it is one among such six such stores in the country.

He said the brand has plans to open 50 more stores in the coming two to three years to take the number of exclusive outlets in the country from 20 to 100.
