TDP forces adjournment of AP House

Hyderabad, Aug 29: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for half an hour as the main opposition TDP stalled the proceedings during question hour today.

Agitated TDP members stormed into the well of the House when Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy made a remark against his predecessor N Chandrababu Naidu, while intervening after Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy replied to a question from the TDP on leasing out of ''LIDCAP.'' Appealing to all members to restrict themselves to putting questions and supplementaries, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy said when the members make challenges and counter challenges, problems erupt.

As the TDP members refused to budge, the speaker adjourned the House for 30 minutes.

The trouble started when Chief Minister remarked that TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu had great vision for the state but had no concrete plans to put them into action. He referred to Mr Naidu's reported statement that he too wanted to provide free power to the farmers.

Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu criticised the government for its policy to lease it out to a Singapore-based firm instead of allowing LIDCAP to grow on its own.
